Elise moved towards the front door, grabbing the doorknob and turning it. She pulled the door open and let her eyes rest on him, scoffing quietly. She moved her hand to the archway of the door as she lifted her head to look up at him. “Nicholas… What are you doing here?” @holdthesetruthsx

“I’m not here to talk unless I’m getting paid for kicking the shit out that idiot or about to get some free flowing booze. I was hoping this one would actually put up a fight.”

“I see the aggressive behavior is high tonight,” he muttered as he leaned against the bar, turning his head to look over at her after he gestured for a drink. He glided the tip of his tongue along his lower lip as he nodded his head. “You mind not tryin’ to get yourself killed out there tonight? I’m trying to run a business.”

Sierra let a smile come along her lips as she moved towards the couch, plopping down next to him. “That was my mom, she told me Elijah is having a great time with his cousins.” She moved closer towards him, moving her lips towards his as she kissed him slowly, a hum leaving her lips as she pulled back a little. “What should we do with a child-free weekend?” @panswaywardmuses

he’ll admit, that response? it unexpected but a welcomed one. he didn’t imagine it would be very long before something happened to her. she was already losing her balance and he was sure that the loss of blood wasn’t helping her. tilting his head as he stared at her, listening to nathan he sighed. “put down?” he chuckled. “who is going to put me down?” arching a brow as he glanced over at him, the break in contact from the girl gave her a moment of relief, enough that she was able to put her foot down but with her swaying? she lost her balance anyway and was about to start falling but within a blink of an eye, zachary was now at the edge of the building, holding onto her arm as she now dangled out desperately grasping his arm. her life now literally in his hands. he wasn’t saving her, he was just teasing death. “don’t you miss it?” he looked back at nathan once again. “being free.” he clarified. “why should there be rules for us.”

Nathan exhaled as he let his eyes move towards the woman then over to his brother, shoving his hands into his pockets. “It’s the rules in this town, brother. Vampires are not supposed to be killing anything and you are tightening the noose around your neck as the time trickles by. You’re making it harder on yourself and on Lex.” He didn’t move from his spot when the woman started to fall because he knew Zachary would catch her, wanting to tease her death a little longer. He shook his head. “I don’t,” although, it was a lie. He missed being able to run around, drink whoever he wanted and play all the games he could but he knew the times were changing and it wasn’t so easy for them to be able to do whatever. They had been lucky to find a town that wouldn’t chase them through it with pitchforks and fire. “Because we should be able to live in this world without being feared, Zachary…”

“a good deed would finally be the death of me.” rather ironic, almost enough for him to crack a smile but his lips only barely pulled up. victoria had been a woman for quite some time now, longer in the minds of people who grew as quickly as they did. independence was important, being babied didn’t fit in with the blood and violence. yet, it was hard for roman to grasp the concept of her becoming a mother. maybe he hadn’t been given the time to. with things not going as smoothly as they were meant to, his mind was busier than it normally was. it wasn’t anything with the families he meant to overthrow either, but issues with his own falling apart. it wasn’t the time for it, but he had no choice. “i believe the men are more willing to throw themselves in front of a bullet than to risk infuriating you.”

Victoria huffed a light chuckle, her eyes moving down to the food all over the floor along with the pieces of broken plate. “Wouldn’t it be ironic?” She teased as she moved to bend down, not being able to get down far enough to pick it up. She stood back up and groaned softly, moving her legs apart so she could squat down to pick it all up. One of her hands moved to her stomach as she lifted her eyes up to look at him. “How come the men in this family are stubborn as bulls? He’s not even out of me yet and he’s making my life impossible.” She glided her tongue along her lower lip, glancing past Roman to see some of the men standing there and once they caught her glancing in their direction, they fled. “Seriously?” She turned her gaze towards her brother as she stood back up, trying to bend back down.

“Brothers are supposed to protect you. They’re supposed to have you back no matter what. It’s not supposed to be one sided, Landon. It’s not! He saved your life and I’m glad that he did but he endangers it. I don’t understand why you don’t see how wrong this is!” Marisol stood firmly knowing this was going to be a winless battle. “No he wouldn’t because his girl walks beside him. She is in it with him because that’s what you do when you love someone. You go all in.”

“Why? Can you be a concrete reason why you like this? Aren’t you scared? Because I know I am scared every single you leave. I wonder if you’ll come back.” She chewed on the inside of her lip. His arrogance burned just as brightly as her stubbornness. Marisol was the master of her fate and the captain of her damn soul. “I’ve already decided, Landon.”

“If you jump, I jump. Take it or leave it.”

Landon let his eyes rest on her, exhaling at her words as he shoved his hands into his pockets. “Marisol.” He said in a low tone of voice as if he was warning her. “I don’t see what you are seeing. What makes you think Leo would do anything to hurt me?” He asked, wondering how she was able to see that man in such a negative light. “He’s a good man. I don’t know who you don’t see it.” He narrowed his eyes at her, clearing his throat at her words. “His girl walked secretly next to him and it blew up in your brother’s face, Mar.”

“No.” He shook his head. “I’m not scared.” He told her. “The only way I’d be scared is if you got involved.” He cleared his throat and moved closer to her, closing the distance between them. He moved his fingers to her jaw, letting his eyes rest on her for a second.

“You’re so fuckin’ stubborn,” he muttered, leaning in and pressing a kiss against her lips.

Patrick pushed off the anchoring worry that radiated off Joanna. No one from their unit ever came down this corridor at this time. Plus, the desk sergeant was going to use this space for a conference call; so it was meant to be clear for the next twenty minutes before they call filed in. “Not as good as mine though,” his lust filled humor was lost on the passion that rattled in his bones. “I am sure..”

image

Johnny jogged down the winding corridor with the manilla folder handing between his fingers. He had finally gotten a lead on the homicide that baffled the whole unit. Everyone had been so tight lipped down in Canaryville. Something about honor or whatever. Johnny rattled every cage of ever CI he could until he nailed some sort lead on the bastard. “Yo Paddy I got a lead..” he paused at the two horny idiots that sullied their sacred place to break bread. “What the fuck,” he hissed before turning around.

image

“Good to see you, Jo.” Johnny said gently.

Jo breathed out against his lips, her hands bunching up his shirt as she pulled it up, her fingernails gently brushing against his skin. A little break wouldn’t be so bad, right? She moved her lips against his, digging her heels into his back to press their hips together. “You’re right, not as good as yours.” She muttered as she moved the tip of her tongue into his mouth, letting them touch. When she heard a voice, she pulled back, moving her fingers to her lips, letting his shirt drop back down towards his waist. She turned her head over to see Johnny’s back to them, chuckling lightly. “Hey, McCain… Didn’t you hook up in the witness room a few months ago?” She teased as she dropped her legs from Paddy’s waist. “Plus, you came in before the show actually started.” She nudged Patrick gently.

“I get it,” she left her hands up to still his unfurling anger. “You and Leo have a bond that does beyond anything I can understand. I just don’t think he’ll protect you if this goes belly up.” Marisol had to be willing to put it all on the line to protect the people she loved. “My brother doesn’t get a say in how I live my life and if things were different I know he’d do the same thing.”

“It’s all about numbers, Landon. I may not know the streets or the players but I know that the game is dictated by numbers. The biggest men don’t win, it’s the smartest. If I can help Leo find a better way to make money, it could buy you an a soft out. I know you’ll never leave but it’ll guarantee that you won’t die on the cold, fucking streets of Chicago.”

image

“I never wanted to be the woman would put it all on the line for a man. Then you happened and I’ll gonna fight just as hard to be loyal to you as you are to him.”

Landon exhaled as his tongue brushed along his lower lip. “It’s not even the fact we have a bond no one will ever understand. He’s like a brother to me, Mar. He saved my life and I owe him for that. Even if he doesn’t have my back when this thing goes belly up, I do my time. Just like the rest of them would do.” He shook his head. “No, he wouldn’t, Marisol. He would keep his woman out of the business but it seems like you think you got a choice here.”

“I don’t want out.” He simply told her, shoving his hands into his pockets. “I want in this business, I wouldn’t be standing here if I didn’t embed myself in this,” he didn’t know how else to explain it to her. He created a little bit of space between them, scoffing once again. “You talk about how smart men win but smart women stay out of shit they don’t belong in.” He knew how cruel it sounded but he didn’t know how else to get the word out to her.  “I haven’t died yet.”

“The best way to be loyal to me, Marisol. Stay out of the business.”
